About Wordwise

WordWise was created to solve a real problem: students struggle with Afrikaans not from lack of ability, but because traditional teaching methods feel overwhelming and disconnected. Founder Annabel Rautenbach identified a gap — no learning solution was breaking Afrikaans down into simple, practical, confidence-building steps — while parents increasingly needed support that delivers real results.

Drawing on a background in teaching, WordWise takes a different approach: simplifying Afrikaans, turning confusion into clarity, and building not just better marks, but genuine understanding and long-term academic confidence.

Brand Story

Future Goals and Aspirations

Looking ahead, WordWise is focused on evolving into a leading, trusted digital learning platform for Afrikaans education. The vision is to build a brand that not only supports students in South Africa, but also becomes the go-to solution for English-speaking learners needing Afrikaans support locally and globally.

The growth strategy centres around three key areas:

1. Expanding Digital Reach

2. Building a Recognisable, Trusted Brand

3. Developing Scalable Learning Products

Our Brand Values

Clarity in learning

At WordWise, we value making learning simple, clear, and easy to understand for children learning Afrikaans as a second language. We believe that clarity builds confidence and reduces frustration, especially in early learning

Inclusivity and Accessibility

WordWise is committed to making language learning accessible to all children, regardless of background, learning pace, or ability. Every child should feel included and supported

Play Based engagement

We believe children learn best when they are actively engaged, curious, and having fun. Play based learning increases retention and helps children develop a positive relationship with language.

Consistency and Trust

We value consistency in teaching methods, branding, and communication so that children and parents feel secure and confident in the learning journey.
